Chucks 50th Birthday

A very dear man in our life, Chuck Vargas was turning 50 and his wife Lisa asked Liz and I to help set up and decorate for his bash. 

Because Chuck LOVES the 70's rock music and the Raiders, Liz and I decide to go for a disco 70's silver and black party.  We decorate with old records my dad had hiding away in his garage. (my husband David went through the box first to make sure I wasn't ruining any good records and to see if there were any he could add to his collection) I know this post is late (he he he) but we were very lucky that his birthday was in December.  We were able to find a ton of silver Christmas ornaments as well as some ornaments that looked like mini disco balls.  So with our new finds and many items our of our collection we were able to decorate a fun party for Chuck.  Here are some pictures of our event.

We love Pinterest!!! We were able to find this idea on Pinterest for the gift table. Although I should have let Liz do it, because she is the crafty one and it would have been 100 times better, I think it came out ok.

Lastly, Chuck LOVES apple desserts.  If it has apple in it he will most likely love it.  We enlisted some of our friends to help us create a homemade apples galore and more dessert bar.  We added the more because there are a few..and I mean few... other desserts that he loves that do not have apples in it. Well it has certainly been awhile

Well, it has certainly been awhile since we have posted a blog on here.  We have had a pretty busy few months.  We haven't been planning too many parties but we have been helping out at weddings and Liz has been in the boutique circuit selling her homemade cards, notebooks, and all her other fabulous creative things.  My sister-in-law Yoli has been boutiquing it up with Liz selling her cake plates. Sometimes Liz and I help set up weddings with Green Leaf Designs.  There are the fabulous florists that did my wedding.  What a fun experience it is to help create someones wedding day design.  We really love the work and are excited to gain some knowledge for Shelby, the owner. All this to say that Green Leaf Designs bought some of Yolis cake plates to use as a centerpiece for a wedding we did at the Long Beach Aquarium.

My husband has also started blogging.  He blogs everyday!! Can you believe it?!?!  I think it is crazy.  It is hard enough for me to think about posting a blog.  But every night he does it.  We made a bet, if he would train and run a half marathon with me then he could grow his beard out for a year.  Well, in February we made it all 13.1 miles.

 I know a lot of women think that I am crazy to allow him to do this, but he helped make one of my dreams come true, the least I could do is make one of his a success.  Hey in my opinion growing a beard is a lot safer then any of his other dreams.  It has now been 103 days of beard growing...and let me tell you, it's getting a little out of control. Camp Raina!!!

Last weekend, we celebrated Raina's birthday a week early.

Welcome to Camp Raina....

Our girl Raina loves breakfast for dinner so our menu included
a waffle bar and a breakfast burrito bar.

The"Starters + Drinks" table included Glazed Donut Holes on a stick, Mini Chocolate Donuts, Orange and Cranberry Scones, a large Fruit Platter, Water, OJ, Coffee Punch, and Soda.

The "Waffle Bar" included Plain and Pumpkin flavored waffles with many add-ins and toppings to choose from...blueberries, strawberries, butter, syrup, bacon, chocolate chips, glazed pecans, and whip cream. YUMMM!!

The "Burrito Bar" was stocked with chorizo and eggs, bacon, sausage,
fried potatoes, re-fried beans, Spanish rice, and all the fixin's.

We set up a "Camp Crafts" station for the kids with and owl craft and some coloring pages.

Raina's favorite cake is the Chocolate and Strawberry Trifle cake from Hof's Hut...so good!!

Getting Ready for a Masquerade!

Here is what we have been working on the past few weeks.....We have a Masquerade party coming up. Raina's brother designed the invitations - don't they look great!!

The Manzanita branches are probably one of my favorite things...they look so cute.

Vases we will be putting candles in and using to line the stage and piano.


Here are the masks we will be using for the pew ends with some
fabric, pearls, and a peacock feather.

Amanda's Masquerade

Amanda's Sweet Sixteen Masquerade Party was on Saturday. This party was a Christian based party and they had a purity ceremony at a church to present her with her purity ring and share what that meant. It was a very sweet ceremony. Below are some photos of the ceremony decorations. They had a dinner reception after at a different venue and everyone came dressed fancy with really fun masks.
